The Night I Accidentally Manifested a Table
On belief, posture, and why expectation changes everything.
✨ My friends and my family know I’m big on positive thinking. Positive energy. A hint of woo. I genuinely believe what you expect and how you carry yourself shape how things unfold.
One of my favorite things to say is:
Thank you, thank you, thank you for the perfect outcome.
Before it happens.
The other night my daughter and I were out having the best time at Dave & Buster’s.
Yes, she’s a teenager. And yes, you are never too old to have a little old-fashioned fun. We were fully committed. Laughing. Competing. Winning like champs. 🏆
At some point between skee-ball domination and one last unnecessary Pac-Man game, I looked at her and said, “Okay. Let’s go eat.”
There’s a new restaurant she hadn’t tried yet that is always packed. Always. I honestly didn’t think we’d get in, especially last minute. But I did my usual little thank you thank you thank you for the perfect outcome, pulled up the app, and there it was.
7:30. Perfect. 🤩
We head over. It’s buzzing. People everywhere. Great lighting. Fun conversations at every table. The kind of place that feels alive the second you walk in.
We go to the host stand. There’s a guy there who looks a little preoccupied, like he might be filling in for the regular hostess.
“Reservation?”
“Yes. For two.”
He asks my name. Looks at the screen.
Asks again.
Then walks away like the answer might be hiding somewhere else.
Now, my name isn’t always the easiest for people.
Joe Ellen? No.
Joanne? Nope.
Jolynn? Not quite.
I’m used to repeating it. Usually someone breaks into song. This time? Just a lot of screen staring and confusion.
We wait. A solid five minutes or more. I can see a couple open tables. Still nothing. A little frantic energy behind the stand.
Meanwhile, two people walk in behind us without a reservation and get turned away immediately.
Two hostess girls step behind the stand. The guy comes back and leans over to them, pointing at the screen. They squint. Nod. Look around the dining room. One of them gestures toward an open table.
I say to my daughter, “I’m confused.” 🤔
She laughs and says, “Me too.”
One of the hostesses walks over with menus and asks my name one more time as if to prove something to the guy. She smiles and says, “We’ll get you seated,” and walks us over to the table.
We sit down. It’s lively. Our waitress comes over, upbeat and friendly.
“What can I get you to drink?”
We order drinks. Appetizers. We settle in.
Then my phone dings.
Your reservation is confirmed… for 7:30pm TOMORROW. Say what now?
I look at it. Pause. Look again.
‼️ Tomorrow?
I feel that tiny drop in my stomach. I show my daughter. She shrugs. “Who cares?”
Of course I care. I’m glancing toward the host stand wondering if I should say something.
She looks at me and says, “Absolutely not, Mom. You wanted the perfect outcome. You got it.”
And she wasn’t wrong.
I fully believed we had that reservation.
So I walked in calmly. Confidently. Like everything was handled.
If I had known we technically didn’t have one, I NEVER would have come, let alone held my head high and sat like I owned the place. I might have over-explained. I might have backed out before even giving my name the third time.
But I didn’t know. 🤷♀️
So I carried myself like someone who expected it to work out.
And somehow… it did.

This isn’t about tricking anyone. It was an honest mistake. But the mindset part? That’s legit.
When you believe something is already aligned for you, you move differently.
And life begins to mirror that energy back to you, as if circumstances subtly adjust, doors open, and little synchronicities start appearing in your favor.
You step into the role because you believe it to be true and the universe makes it so.
So I took my daughter’s advice. I stayed in the moment. We savored the food. We laughed. We lingered over conversation. And in my head I said it again.
🙏 Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Say it in advance.
Expect things to align.
Walk in like everything is already unfolding in your favor.
You might be surprised how often it does. 💫
Will I double-check the reservation date next time? You better believe it.
Will I ever doubt the power of belief? Not a chance.

It reminds me of perfect evening we went to one and it was so busy. We didn’t have one and they said, if you wait you might be able to sit at the bar. We said that’s fine. This perfect table was outside and I was manifesting how it would be amazing. A few minutes later the hostess said, actually we have a cancellation if you want this one! After others were turned away from it that even had reservations 😊
